e-Commerce can speed up biz processes
The Hindu Business Line: July 04, 2010

Kochi: Alibaba.com Ltd, the world's leading small business e-commerce company in association with Kerala Small Scale Industries Association (KSSIA) will organise a seminar named “Internet Edge – Online Opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises” at Infopark Kochi on July 6.

The workshop is organised with the objective to showcase technology benefits to Small and Medium Enterprises and also present cases of businesses on their success of using an online B2B platform. “e-Commerce is growing in prominence because of its ability to encompass a more geographically diverse customer base, thus providing access to a larger universe of qualified buyers and suppliers.”

With e-commerce, SMEs can accelerate their business processes by identifying and communicating with global partners faster via real-time communication, reduce the time it takes to negotiate deals and provide superior customer service and after sales service using these online tools.

At this workshop, we will share Alibaba.com success stories of the past and highlight how e-commerce can bring success to SMEs in Kerala and urge them to embrace this technology, Mr Brian Wong, Senior Director, Global Sales, Alibaba.com, said.

KSSIA has worked on the needs of small scale industries. The association has helped them solve the various problems facing their business for overall growth of SSI sector in the industrially backward State. “e-Commerce in India is gradually but steadily increasing in its reach and importance and is providing exciting prospects for Indian businesses especially MSMEs.

IT SME's are a major component of growth in the State and this event in Infopark will focus on discussing some best of the breed practices across the world,” Mr Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Chief Executive Officer, Infopark said.
