New Delhi: The State-owned BHEL on Tuesday announced that it had won a Rs 2,665-crore contract for setting up a 1,200 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh. BHEL's scope of work would include designing, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the equipment along with other associated auxiliaries.
“Valued at Rs 2,665 crore, the order has been placed on BHEL by Dainik Bhaskar Power Ltd for supplying and installing boilers, turbines and generators for their upcoming thermal power project at Baradarha in Chhattisgarh,” said the company in a statement. BHEL currently manufactures equipment that can generate 15,000 MW of electricity and its augmentation to 20,000 MW an annum is currently in progress. Out of the total orders of 16,489 MW plant equipment received by BHEL during the year, independent power producers account for 14,689 MW.
