The Indian Engineering sector comprises of heavy engineering and light engineering sectors. Boilers, industrial machinery and electric generators appear to be the most attractive segments from a size and growth perspective. Given the focus on the development of power infrastructure, these segments are expected to see sustained growth.
Exports of engineering goods from India have also been growing rapidly. The country exported engineering goods worth US$ 35.17 billion in 2007-08. BHEL, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Cummins, Larson & Toubro Ltd, Crompton Greaves and Siemens are some of the major players in the sector.
