Overseas investments
- Hinduja Global Solutions (HGSL), a business process outsourcing (BPO) company and part of the Hinduja Group, bought UK-based customer relationship management company Careline Services Ltd in June 2010
- Cognizant has acquired Galileo Performance, a Paris-based provider of information technology (IT) -testing consulting services
- HCL Technologies has signed a five-year IT infrastructure outsourcing agreement with Singapore Exchange (SGX) for Singapore US$ 110 million. HCL will provide SGX with infrastructure support and management services
- Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a Chennai-based pharmaceutical company, has acquired US-based generic marketing company Karalex Pharma LLC, in an all-cash deal
- Reliance Power has signed a share-sale agreement with Indonesia's Sugico Group to acquire three coal mines. Reliance Power's wholly-owned subsidiary, Reliance Coal Resources, will make an upfront payment of US$ 106 million for the acquisition. If all production-linked targets are met, the total value of the deal will be US$ 1.6 billion
- Aditya Birla Minacs, an IT business solutions company and a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd, has acquired US-based Bureau of Collections Recovery (BCR), an accounts receivables management company, in an all-cash transaction, in the first week of June 2010. This is the second acquisition by Aditya Birla Minacs in three months, after it acquired UK-based Compass BPO in March 2010
- The Café Coffee Day chain has acquired a Czech Republic-based café chain Emporio for US$ 3.22 million. Café Emporio is present across 11 locations in the Czech Republic with seven of them being in Prague.
- The Essar group has acquired US-based Avaya's entire 59.13 per cent stake in AGC Networks, a company in the area of communications solutions, for US$ 44.5 million
- Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) player, Marico has acquired the aesthetics skincare business of Singapore-based Derma Rx Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (Derma Rx)
- Gautum Thapar's Avantha Group acquired US-based Pyramid Healthcare Solutions for US$ 20 million
- Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) has completed the acquisition of Oman-based Shadeed Iron and Steel Co LLC (Shadeed) for US$ 464 million
- Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has acquired the remaining 51 per cent stake of US-based Sara Lee Corporation in their JV, Godrej Sara Lee (GSL) for US$ 233.3 million.
- Aditya Birla Group's cement arm, UltraTech Cement, has acquired Dubai-based ETA Star Cement Company. The company said that the enterprise value of the deal works out to be around Rs 1,700 crore.
- Patni Computer Systems, the Mumbai-based IT services provider, signed a definitive agreement in April 2010 to acquire CHCS Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Universal American Corp
- Crompton Greaves Ltd (CG) has acquired the UK-based electrical engineering company Power Technology Solutions (PTS) for around US$ 45.5 million.
